Getting out of your comfort zone

Day 8 of the challenge - create your own adventure. Too easy. Today my business partner and I went off road. Literally. And it was awesome. 4WD drive adventure with Senka Radonich of NZ's Adventure Girls.

Don't get me wrong, as I picked Sarah up we did wonder why we were doing this... but we both drive 4WDs and we figured it was time to get out of our comfort zone (beyond starting a never-been-done-before business). But OMG - awesome. Truly spectacular in every way.
Check out my smile. Had just made it to the top of the hill. Whoop whoop.

And Sarah looking pretty cool and comfortable here.

And then there was this...

I she was all like, "no worries, I got this. It's not my truck".

And at the end, there was feasting to be done.

So why does this matter? Because community is a huge part of what we're trying to do. We could have gone about it in a totally different way (signed up for a course and learned how to off road drive). But that's not what we were after.

We were after the rush. The get in and give it a go feeling that is the spirit of DIY. And doing it with a bunch of other first-timers, scaredy cats and doubters had us all cheering each other on.

Yep, some people had their moments of shade - but we all handle it differently. Being part of a team makes it all really ok.

So every time we welcome a newbie to DIY Marketing .Co, you need to know - we feel your fear. And you need to know - we're your community to help you through.

Because the rush of first time success is addictive. And that means smarter, better small businesses all across our awesome land.

Thanks Nat Sisson for the opportunity to show fear - and find the satisfaction of a mountain, overcome!

This blog post is in response to Natalie’s 10 Day Freedom Plan Blog Challenge Day 8.
